BALTIMORE – UMBC Athletics will induct five new members into its Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, as part of the university's Homecoming 2024. The 24th annual induction will take place at UMBC's University Center Ballroom at 6:00 p.m.

·         Kasy Kruger Schnabel, Women's Soccer, '96
·         Liam Paddock, Men's Soccer, '13
 
In addition, Carlee Cassidy Dewey, '10 will be formally inducted with this class. She was scheduled to be inducted in 2023 but could not attend the ceremony due to a death in her family.
 
Former UMBC Band Director and creator of UMBC's Alma Mater, Jari Villanueva, will receive the Dr. Woolston Award.
 

Jeremy Blevins, Men's Lacrosse (2005-09)

Blevins was UMBC's starting goalie during the program's most successful era of Division I Lacrosse. Blevins led the Retrievers to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and America East Conference championships from 2006 through 2009, including an NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 2007. He was selected as an NCAA Honorable Mention All-American in 2008 and 2009 and named the America East Conference Player of the Year in 2009.  Blevins, fourth on UMBC's list with 629 career saves, also earned First Team America East All-Conference honors in 2008 and 2009. During Blevins' tenure, the Dawgs enjoyed a record of 45-19 while going 18-2 in the America East.

Carlee Cassidy Dewey, Women's Basketball (2006-10)

Cassidy Dewey was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner with the Retrievers from 2006-10. She was a key member of UMBC's first America East Conference women's basketball championship team in her freshman season. Cassidy Dewey still ranks second all-time in program history with 1,627 points and 347 free throws made and is first in both categories during the Retrievers' Division I era. She still holds the school's record for three-pointers (248) in a career. Cassidy Dewey became the first Retriever women's basketball student-athlete to earn America East All-Conference honors three times, receiving a spot on the second team as a junior and senior and garnering First Team recognition as a sophomore. The 5-9 guard earned America East All-Tournament Team honors during the 2007 conference championships after scoring a team-best 14 points to help UMBC stun top-seeded and defending champion Hartford in the championship game. 

 

Amanda Fefel, Softball (2006-10)

Fefel was a four-time America East All-Conference First Team utility who dominated all over the field. Fefel was also an America East All-Rookie selection and an ECAC First Team honoree. The 2009 UMBC Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year is UMBC's all-time leader with 43 career home runs and ranks fifth in career slugging percentage (.590), fourth in extra-base hits (77) and RBI (147), 7th in hits (219), and is second in total bases (385). In the circle, she also ranks second in saves (8), fifth in winning percentage (.653), sixth in strikeouts (294), eighth in appearances (65), and 9th in wins (32). She was also selected as an NFCA All-Region all four years and was named UMBC's Senior Athlete of the Year in 2010.

 

Kasy Kruger Schnabel, Women's Soccer (1992-96)

Kruger Schnabel is UMBC's third-leading scorer of all-time with 87 career points. She ranks sixth on the all-time program list with 23 goals and is second in assists with 36. Her career got off to an electric start in 1992 as she recorded eight goals and seven assists in her first ten collegiate games before an injury interfered with her season. Schnabel, who distributed a school-record 19 assists in 1993, earned Big South Conference First Team accolades in 1995 and was a Second Team pick in 1994. She was named to the Big South All-Tournament Team in 1993 and 1994. The Retrievers went 39-35-2 overall during her tenure and 11-7-0 in the Big South Conference.

 

Liam Paddock, Men's Soccer (2009-13)

Paddock was an iron man, starting all 73 games he was available for at central fullback. He helped lead the Retrievers to the 2012 America East Championship and was named to the All-Championship Team. That season, UMBC advanced to the NCAA Second Round after defeating Old Dominion in penalty kicks. Paddock, a two-time America East First Team pick, was named the America East Defender of the Year in 2012 after the Retrievers allowed just 17 goals, the fewest in the league. He also earned All-Rookie Team accolades in 2009. Paddock was equally impressive off the field, earning the America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2012. He was also named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2011 University Division Men's Scholar All-East Region Second Team. He became UMBC's fifth student-athlete ever to be named a Capital One First Team Academic All-American in 2012.
