Women's Soccer Hosts Princeton on Tuesday Evening

  • UMBC team dropped their fourth straight decision, falling to the host Bryant Bulldogs by a 2-0 count on Thursday evening at chilly Beirne Stadium.
  • The Bulldogs scored set-piece goals in each half to earn their first-ever win against the Retrievers.
  • UMBC (5-9-1, 1-4-1 AE) had several scoring opportunities in the opening half but could not get the equalizer past Bryant goalie Selena Negron. Sophomore Payton Schenning was denied from five yards out after a rebound, and the midfielder had another great chance on a header, which Negron made a diving save on.
  • Lauren Reid just misfired on a header in the 81st minute, and Bella Roppolo hit the post with 1:40 left.
  • UMBC had a 25-19 advantage in shots and attempted nine of the 12 corner kicks in the match.
  • Abbey Cowles recorded her 150th career save in the opening half.
  • Megan McKye went over the 30-point mark for her career with her tally versus Binghamton.

 About Princeton
  • Princeton has outscored its opponents 27-8 this season and has turned in six shutouts, allowed one goal six times, and has allowed more than one goal in a game only once this season, the 2-1 loss to Yale that has been Princeton's only league loss. 
  • The Tigers entered the week ranked 19th in the nation in save percentage (.855) and 21st in GAA (0.615). Tyler McCamey is 26th in save percentage, at .849. 
  • On Offense: Princeton has had 13 goal scorers this season with Isabella Garces, Alexandra Barry and Pietra Tordin co-leading the team with four goals and Brooke Dawahare next with three. Seven of the 13 goal scorers scored their first career goals this season, and 22 of the 27 goals have come from non-seniors. 
  • Between the Posts: Tyler McCamey has played 12 of the team's 13 games and has an 0.67 GAA with five of the team's six shutouts. Cecilia Cerone turned in a shutout in her first career start earlier this month against Lafayette.
