Women's Basketball Looks to Continue Winning Ways at Bryant on Saturday

The UMBC Women's Basketball team will look to keep its win streak going when it plays at America East rival rival Bryant on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Last time out, eight different Retrievers made a bucket, with seven making multiple, as the UMBC Women's Basketball team opened America East play with a 70-55 win at Binghamton on Thursday night.

The victory was the third straight for UMBC, who also opened America East play last season with a win over Binghamton.

Jaliena Sanchez and Anna Blount each had a game-best 12 points, while Jordon Lewis added 10 and the duo of Trinity Palacio and Jaden Walker tallied nine each.

Sanchez went 8-for-8 from the free throw line and all grabbed five rebounds, and had a pair of assists and steals. Blount pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, while Lewis went 4-for-6 from the field, including 2-for-3 from distance.

Carmen Yánez added eight points, while fellow Spaniard Laura Lacambra chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.

Scouting Bryant:
  • Mia Mancini tallied 17 points on 5-12 shooting and 6-9 from the free-throw line, but Bryant lost, 69-50, at UAlbany on Thursday night.
  • Kemari Reynolds made a career-high three from downtown, and Martina Boba posted her eighth multi-steal game.
  • Bryant shot 40% from the field, 29% from deep, and 68% from the free-throw line.
  • It was the 12th game Mancini has tallied 10+ points.
All-Time Series

  • In the last matchup, graduate student guard Keelah Dixon led five Retrievers in double figures with 16 points as UMBC held off host Bryant, 75-69, at Chace Athletic Center on February 11.
