Women's Swimming & Diving Faces Tough Test at Mason

The UMBC women's and men's swimming and diving squads will get a major test as they travel to Fairfax, Va. to take on George Mason in a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 27. The meet gets underway at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

What Have You Done for me Lately: UMBC seniors led the way on Senior Day as the Retrievers cruised to victory over Salisbury University and Frostburg State on Jan. 20.

On the women's side, senior Nyah Stahl captured both the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke and classmate Makaela Hill added a victory in the 100 freestyle.

The women defeated Salisbury, 148-57 and Frostburg State, 162-43, while the men triumphed over Salisbury, 149-56 and Frostburg State, 155-50.

Notes: Sophomore Bruna de Padua earned America East Conference Swimmer of the Week honors on Oct. 10.

Last Year vs. Mason:  In 2023, the Patriots defeated UMBC in a dual meet, as the Retrievers completed a three-meet in eight-day stretch. Of the returners, senior Makaela Hill turned in the best individual performance, placing second in the 200 freestyle.
 
UMBC's divers will compete at the Navy Diving Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 3. The entire team travels to VMI for the 2023-24 America East Conference Swimming and Diving Championships from Feb. 14-17. Tickets are available at https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2new/team.asp?SponsorID=17275.
