Bobb, Roberts Selected as America East Track & Field Performers of the Week

Both excelled at the Nittany Lion Challenge and are regionally ranked.

BOSTON – UMBC juniors Caitlyn Bobb and Ava Roberts earned America East Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week awards respectively for their efforts at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Bobb continued a strong opening campaign to her season, clocking a 24.27 time in the 200m, and earning a third place finish at the prestigious event. With that time, she holds the fastest time within the America East in the 200m and the 41st best mark nationally for the indoor season. In addition, she anchored UMBC's 4x400m, which came in fourth with a time of 3:47.90. Her split time of 54.0 seconds was the fastest of the day in the relay or the 400m race. This time retains UMBC's lead within the America East in the 4x4 and the quartet improved by over 2.5 seconds from the Navy Invitational.

Roberts threw a personal best mark of 14.82m in the shot put, good for a fifth place finish out of 25 competitors.  Her mark leads the America East Conference and is fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the early going and she maintains her standing in fourth place all-time in the indoor shot put at UMBC.

A contingent of UMBC athletes will compete the Ramapo Opener at The Armory in New York on Friday, Jan. 19.
