BALTIMORE --
Laura Lacambra continued her stellar play as she poured in a career-high 14 points, but defending America East champion Vermont rallied past host UMBC, 70-55, on Thursday morning in front of over 2,300 screaming school kids at The Peake.
Anna Blount also scored 14 and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while
Jaden Walker added 11 points of her own.
The loss snaps UMBC's four game winning-streak and drops its record to 6-9 and 2-1 in America East play.
The Retrievers were on fire early, building a 28-16 lead, but the Catamounts would close the gap to 30-24 before a
Trinity Palacio layup with three seconds left sent the hosts into the break up 32-24.
UMBC would hold a 40-33 lead midway through the third, but Vermont would end the quarter on an 8-1 run to tie up the game heading into the final frame.
The Catamounts would score the first six points of the fourth to jump ahead for good.
The Retrievers host UMass Lowell on Saturday at 1 p.m.
