RETRIEVER BYTES
- The Retrievers controlled most of their contest at Mount St. Mary's, but the hosts scored a late goal to edge the Retrievers, 2-1, on Wednesday evening at Waldron Family Stadium.
- Sophomore midfielder Misa Kasparcova scored her first collegiate goal for UMBC's lone tally of the night. Junior forward Izzy Binko took a game-high five shots and created several scoring opportunities to lead the Retriever attack. Junior goalkeeper Abbey Cowles made four saves.
- UMBC recorded 18 shots in the contest and held the Mountaineers to only 11 attempts. The Retrievers also took four corner kicks and did not allow the Mount to attempt any corners. The hosts committed 18 fouls compared to just five by the Retrievers. 
- The "Rick Stainton Era" began with a bang as the UMBC women's soccer team blanked Kutztown, 2-0, in the season-opener at Retriever Soccer Park on Aug. 17.
 - Freshman forward Payton Schenning, Maryland's 2022 Gatorade Girls Player of the Year, headed in the game-winner just two minutes into her career off a gorgeous corner kick into the box from graduate student Lola Negrete.  The Retrievers got an insurance marker in the '70 when freshman striker Cheyenne Payne tapped in a feed from junior midfielder Bella Roppolo from five yards out.
 - After falling to Longwood and Drexel, the Dawgs evened their record with a 1-0 victory at LIU. Senior forward Meghan McKye struck just 12 minutes in with a laser from 15 yards out after shedding three defenders.
 - McKye is 11th in the America East with five points (2 goals, 1 assist) thus far in 2023.
- Negrete is sixth in the conference with 1.00 shots on goal per game and is 10th in total shots (1.89 pg.)
 - Junior Izzy Binko is 19th in total shots (1.56 pg.)
 - Junior goalkeeper Abbey Cowles is second in the America East with 5.78 saves per game.
 
A GLANCE AT THE BULLDOGS
- Bryant has not played in ten days as last Sunday's game against Stonehill was postponed due to bad weather.
- The Bulldogs have played just one game at home this season, a 1-0 triumph over Fairfield on Aug. 31.
- Bryant has scored five goals in six contests thus far this season and have only allowed four goals on the other end.
-Kathryn McNeil has started all six games in goal and has yielded just one marker in 315:00. She has turned aside 16 shots for a .941 save percentage.
- Selena Negron has seen action in five contests and has played the other 225:00. Negron had allowed three goals and has made 18 stops for a .857 save rate.
- Jordan Collins has booted a team-high 10 shots but has yet to hit the mark.
- Sophomore defender Kelsie Wandyes has a strong connection to UMBC as her mother, Beth Wandyes, served as the Retrievers' recruiting coordinator and women's basketball assistant coach in 2002 and 2003.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is just the second all-time meeting between UMBC and Bryant.
- UMBC and Bryant played to a scoreless draw last season in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The Retrievers outshot the Bulldogs by a 15-12 margin. Meghan McKye attempted a game-high seven shots. Morgan McGruder made four saves.
