Holland Breaks Own Program Record, Earns Silver in Long Jump at AE Championships

Seven Retrievers qualify For Sunday finals

ALBANY, N.Y. – The UMBC women's track and field program had three student-athletes put points on the board, seven other Retrievers punch their tickets to Sunday's finals, and saw Jasmine Holland break her own program record during day one of the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Black and Gold sit in eighth place after the first six events of the meet were scored, cashing in 13 points.

UMBC Overview:

  • Holland was the lone medalist on Saturday for the ladies, claiming silver by obliterating her own UMBC outdoor program record that she and Petronilla Onyebadi shared in the long jump since last season, leaping 5.85m for eight points.
  • Onyebadi and Za'kayza Parsons also scored three and two points respectively behind their teammate in the long jump with the former going 5.72m, while the latter went for a distance of 5.70m.
  • The 100m dash witnessed all three of the runners sporting the Black and Gold qualify as Savannah Wright led the way in fourth (11.95), Onyebadi logged seventh (12.03), and Parsons PR'd at eighth (12.05).
  • Caitlyn Bobb, listed as one of the four student-athletes to watch by the America East heading into the weekend, proved the conference correct, posting the top qualifying mark in the 400m prelims with a speed of 54.74 seconds. Leanne McDonald broke through to the finals towards the end of the list by slotting eighth with a 56.67.
  • The final event that UMBC qualified for was the 200m dash. Dianna Koger came in third place with a new low of 24.39 and Tori Bulford-Trott battled for eighth, crossing the tape in 25.08.
