BALTIMORE --
Madison O'Berg (Lorain, Ohio) pitched the first seven inning complete game of her career, allowing just two earned runs, but the UMBC Softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to UMass Lowell on Saturday.
Prior to the game, UMBC (23-15, 15-4 AE) honored O'Berg and fellow seniors
Shanel Stott (Cumberland, Md.),
Meghan Dempsey (Collegeville, Pa.),
Julia Colton (Elkridge, Md.) and
Madison Wilson (Abingdon, Md.)
Wilson had an RBI double in the third that cut a 2-0 deficit in half, and
Courtney Coppersmith (York, Pa.) then tied the game with an RBI groundout.
UMass Lowell would take advantage of an error to take a 3-2 lead in the fourth and hold on the rest of the way.
O'Berg struck out five, while adding two hits at the plate. Dempsey also singled, as did
Karly Keating (Orlando, Fla.) and
Lyndsey Evix (Cumberland, Md.)
The Retrievers will host and be the number 1 seed in the America East Tournament. They will play at 11 a.m. on Thursday.Â
