Baseball Drops 6-5 Decision to George Washington

BALTIMORE -- The UMBC Baseball team dropped a 6-5 decision to visiting George Washington on Tuesday night at Alumni Field
The Colonials jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the second, but UMBC responded with three in the third.
UMBC (22-20) loaded the bases with no outs, and Ian Diaz (Philadelphia, Pa.) drove home two with a double to make it 5-2.
Luke Trythall (Poolesville, Md.) then came home on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 5-3.
The Retrievers cut the GW lead to one in the fourth on a Justin Taylor (Reston, Va.) RBI single, but GW responded with an unearned run in the top of the fifth to push the lead back to 6-4.
In the eighth, Diaz reached on a leadoff walk and would eventually score on a two out wild pitch to make it 6-5, but that was as close as the Dawgs would get.
UMBC travels to first place Maine this weekend.
