The UMBC Softball team travels to America East newcomer Bryant this weekend for a three game series. UMBC swept a double-header between the two programs at The Diamond last month.
Last Time Out:
- Courtney Coppersmith (York, Pa) and Amaya Carroll (Hanover, Md.) earned America East weekly honors, the conference announced on Tuesday morning. Coppersmith was named America East Pitcher of the Week, while Carroll earned Rookie of the Week.
- Coppersmith went 1-0 with two saves vs. Maine, totaling 16 strikeouts, three hits, and no earned runs. In Game 1, threw a 1-hitter complete game with 12 strikeouts and one walk.
- Carroll went 1-0 in her two appearances, earning her first AESB start and win. She allowed only two earned runs and struck out three in six innings of work
- Madison Wilson (Abingdon, Md.) hit a three-run homer and the UMBC Softball team (20-13, 12-2 AE) held off a furious rally to defeat visiting Maine, 5-3, on Sunday to complete the three game sweep.
Scouting Bryant:
- The Bulldogs improved to 14-25 overall after a 9-1 (5) win over Merrimack on Tuesday
- They record are 3-10 in America East play with wins over UMass Lowell and Maine
- Senior Infielder Aleix Hudson is currently recording an impressive .319 batting average.
- Brooke Tracy leads the pitching staff with a 2.51 ERA
