Softball to Host Mount St. Mary's in Inaugural Home Night Game

The UMBC Softball team will host its first-ever night contest at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night at The Diamond. 

This will be the first scheduled night game in the history of the program as lights were installed at The Diamond this past offseason as part of the UMBC Stadium Complex renovations. 

Fans who can't make it, can watch the live video stream on AmericaEast.TV.

Last Time Out:
  • UMBC has been off since Sunday, February 26.
  • The Retrievers swept all four games that weekend and now sit at 5-3.
  • For their succss, the Retrievers swept the America East Weekly Awards
  • Madison O'Berg (Lorain, Ohio) was the Player of the Week.
  • She went 5-for-6 with two RBI in a pair of wins, as well as 1-0 in 5.0 IP in one appearance.
  • Finished 3-for-3 with two RBI against Lafayette while also tossing 5.0 innings and striking out four to earn the win.
  •  Jerzie Nutile (Pasadena, Md.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors. 
  • In her second career start, tossed a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts.
  • Allowed just four hits and walked one in the win, 6-0 over Lafayette.
  • Amaya Carroll (Hanover, Md.) was the Rookie of the Week
  • Went 5.0 innings, allowing just one run and two hits with one strikeout to earn first career victory.
Scouting Mount St. Mary's:
  • The Mountaineers (3-7) downed Ole Miss, 4-1, in the final game of the Ole Miss Classic on Sunday. 
  • The Mountaineer pitching staff was solid at the Ole Miss Classic, posting a 2.55 ERA in the six games. 
  • The Mount went 1-5 at the tournament, dropping a pair of one-run games and an extra-inning contest.  
  • Abigayle Perry leads the Mount with a .320 average and a .541 on-base percentage through 10 games.  
  • Avery Neuhart leads a deep pitching staff with a 1-1 record and a 1.29 ERA in 16.1 innings of work.  
  • Maddie Coleman (0-2, 1 SV, 2.07 ERA, 20.1 IP), Amaya Bowman (1-0, 3.36 ERA, 8.1 IP), Elizabeth King (0-1, 4.20 ERA, 6.2 IP) and Olivia Murphy (1-3, 4.29 ERA, 16.1 IP) also have seen action in the circle.
  • They play a double-header at No.10/13 Virginia Tech on Tuesday night.
