Newark, Del. –After earning a 8-4 victory in a physical contest versus Towson on Sunday, the UMBC men's lacrosse team fell, 17-11, to Delaware at Delaware Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Retrievers suffered their first setback of the season and fell to 4-1, while UD improved to 4-2.

Allen Hockenberry added a pair of goals and an assist.
Delaware broke open a tight game, outscoring UMBC, 7-0, in the third quarter.
The Blue Hens led, 4-2, after one quarter. The Retrievers took their lone lead of the game at 6-5 on Brown's second goal in the span of 36 seconds with 5:42 to play in the second period. That goal capped a 4-1 run by the visitors.
After UD strung together back-to-back goals, Hockenberry evened the contest at 7-7 with just 1:44 to play in the half. But Delaware ended the half with a goal as 28 ticks remained on the clock to lead, 8-7, at half.
Trailing 15-7 after three quarters, UMBC ran off a streak of three straight tallies and outscored UD, 4-2, in the final 15 minutes. Senior midfielder

UMBC returns home to play its final non-conference contest of the season as they host Mercer on Saturday, March 11. The opening face-off is set for noon.
