The UMBC Softball team continues its early season home stand by hosting Lafayette and Youngstown State for the UMBC Round Robin #2 this weekend at The Diamond.

All games will be broadcast on AmericaEast.TV and will have live stats available.

UMBC is 1-3 after opening weekend. Ashley Della Guardia (Phoenixville, Pa.) led the way on offense, going 6-for-13 (.462) with three doubles, two RBI and a run scored. Kya Matter (Dalmatia, Pa.) pitched a complete game in a 6-1 victory over Niagara on Sunday.

• The Leopards played in the 37th annual Louisiana Classic and dropped all five games.
• The team competed against Stephen F. Austin (three times) and No. 20 Louisiana (twice).
• They finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 10-37 and a 2-16 record in the Patriot League.
• Harlie Bickett returns after an impressive 2022 season. She earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors as a freshman, recording 40 hits and 14 RBIs and led Lafayette with a .270 batting average.

• The Penguins opened up the season with a four-game series against Norfolk State going 1-3. 
• YSU finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 32-24 and a 17-9 record in the Horizon League.
• The softball team was picked fifth in the Horizon League preseason poll.
• Seniors Conchetta Rinaldi and Megan Turner return as a power-hitting duo, as they combined for 21 doubles and 14 home runs in 2022.  
• Rinaldi led the team and ranked third in the conference with 32 RBIs and Turner was sixth in the league with 28 RBIs.
• Brian Campbell returns for his 15th season as the head coach for Youngstown State.
