Anna Blount had 15 points and five rebounds, both team-highs, but the UMBC Women's Basketball team dropped an 88-52 decision at Oregon State on Wednesday night.
Riley Donahue had a career-high nine points on three treys, while
Jordon Lewis returned from injury to pick up 10 points and four rebounds.
The Retrievers used a 15-1 run to take a 17-12 lead with just under 35 seconds to go in the opening stanza, but the Beavers would hit a late three to cut the UMBC advantage to 17-15 after one quarter. OSU would then score the first 17 points of the second quarter and never look back.
The UMBC bench outscored the hosts by a 28-22 margin, and the Retrievers sank 11-14 free throw attempts, compared to Oregon State's 10-13.Â
Carmen Yánez and
Trinity Palacio each had three assists for the visitors.
UMBC returns to the East Coast when it travels to in-state rival Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
