BALTIMORE -- The UMBC Volleyball team celebrated Senior Day in style with a sweep of visiting UAlbany (25-20, 25-23, 25-14) to earn the outright America East regular season title.
The Retrievers finished the regular season 15-7 overall and 8-2 in America East play.
Graduate student
Kamani Conteh led the offense for UMBC, tallying a match-high 12 kills to go with five digs and three blocks.
Mia Bilusic had nine kills and 12 digs, while redshirt-junior
Michela De Marzi had eight kills on .429 hitting.
PhD. candidate
Emily Ferketic had six kills on .500 hitting (no errors), three digs and two blocks.
Hannah Howard had a match-best 20 digs and eight assists, while
Serin Maden had 23 assists and nine digs.
Mila Ilieva had five kills on .308 hitting and five blocks and senior
Weronika Wrzesinska added a kill and a solo block.
Julija Grubisic Cabo tallied six kills and seven digs in the contest.
UMBC hosts the America East Tournament beginning next Friday.
