de Padua Picks Up a Pair of Victories as Women's Swimming & Diving Gives La Salle a Battle

BALTIMORE- Bruna de Padua won a pair of events in her first home meet as the UMBC Women's Swimming & Diving team battled La Salle on Saturday.

Nyah Stahl and Makaela Hill also had event wins for the Retrievers.

"Our team just loves to compete," said head coach Matt Donovan. "We see it in practice every day and it's great seeing in the pool for the last two weeks.  LA Salle is a great team and very well coaches.  We gavel them everything we had today.  This is going to be a great rivalry for years to come"

de Padua took home the gold in the 1000 and 500 Free, while Stahl won the 200 Back and Hill took the top spot in the 100 Free.

de Padua won the 1000 in 10:42.90, nearly 20 seconds ahead of second place finisher, and teammate, Telma Maltesjo. She then went on to win the 500 by almost 12 seconds, finishing in 5:11. 58.

Stahl won the 200 by nearly two seconds over a pair of swimmers from La Salle, while Hill took the 100 by just over one second.

The Retrievers will host the Black & Gold/Alumni Meet for Homecoming next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
