Women's Soccer Battles New Hampshire to Scoreless Draw in Season Finale

Cowles Records Eight Saves

Durham, NH – The UMBC women's soccer team earned a scoreless draw against the New Hampshire Wildcats, in the season finale for the Retrievers on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.

UMBC (3-11-4, 0-4-4 AE) junior goalkeeper Abbey Cowles made a game-high eight saves to record her third clean sheet of the season. Senior Meghan McKye had a pair of shots on goal.

Cowles made the play of the game when she robbed Abbi Maier from scoring the game-winner with 37:30 left in the contest. Maier sent a 25-yard blast that was ticketed for the lower right corner, but Cowles made a sensational diving save to her right to keep the game scoreless.

New Hampshire's Megan Logue hit the inside of the post in the 85' and Greta Caulton pushed an unbelievable chance just wide left with six seconds left after she had a one-on-one with Cowles.

New Hampshire (6-4-4, 3-1-3 AE), who outshot the Dawgs by a 22-3 margin, clinched a berth in the upcoming America East Tournament with the point.
