The UMBC Volleyball team begins the second half of America East play when it welcomes Bryant to The Peake on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Aysia Miller picked up her second triple-double of the season and Hannah Howard racked up 25 digs as the Retrievers swept visiting Binghamton (29-27, 25-16, 25-20) on Thursday night at The Peake in a battle for first place in the America East.
UMBC (10-6. 4-1 AE) handed Binghamton (11-9, 4-1 AE) its first conference loss of the season and its first America East regular season sweep since 11/12/21.
Miller was outstanding in all facets for the Retrievers, finishing with 11 kills (.476 hitting), 21 assists and 11 digs
Kamani Conteh led all players with 14 kills (.294 hitting) and added four blocks. Mia Bilsuic had 10 kills, eight digs and tied her career-high with six aces.
Julija Grubisic Cabo had nine kills and 11 digs, while Mila Ilieva had six kills and five blocks.
UMBC opened America East Conference play with a 3-0 victory at Bryant on 9/29.
Scouting Bryant:
- The Bulldogs beat New Hampshire, 3-1, at home on Sunday and currently sit in third in the America East
- Junior Aubrey Lapour leads the Bulldogs in kills with 307 and a 3.45 K/S, which is the second highest in conference (19th nationally).
- Sophomore Arianna Ugolini leads the America East Conference in aces this season (13th in NCAA).
- Junior Morgan Smith leads the conference with a .360 hitting percentage.
The teams split the series last season, with each team winning at home before UMBC dropped the first set before winning the next three in the America East Semifinals. UMBC leads the all-time series, 4-1.
