The UMBC Women's Volleyball team looks to get back to its winning ways when it travels to Newark to face NJIT on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Last Sunday, the Retrievers dropped their first America East contest of the year, falling in five sets (25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 13-25, 19-17) to host UAlbany on Sunday afternoon at Russell Sage College.Â
The Retrievers fell to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in America East play.
UMBC battled back after dropping the first two sets, and even fought off four match points in the fifth, but couldn't complete the comeback.
Scouting NJIT:
- The last time the Retrievers faced the Highlanders was on October 28, 2022 in Baltimore, where the Retrievers won 3-1.
- The Highlanders currently have a 7-10 overall record and are 1-2 in conference, but they play at Bryant on Friday.
- Graduate student Adriana Goetz-Morales leads the team in kills with 148 thus far, and sophomore Emil Doga leads with 173 digs.
- The Highlanders added four freshmen for the 2023 season under head coach Pedro Trevino.
