Women's Basketball Set To Host Bryant on Saturday

The UMBC Women's Basketball team looks to continue its hot start to conference play when it faces America East newcomer Bryant on Saturday at The Peake. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and fans can catch all the action ESPN3.

Last Time Out:
  • The UMBC Women's Basketball team (5-9, 2-1 AE) battled for 40 minutes minutes, but defending America East champion UAlbany (9-8, 3-0 AE) used a big run in the final two minutes to win, 61-53, on Wednesday night at the McDonough Sports Complex - HVCC.
  • Reigning America East Player of the Week KK White (Indianapolis, In.) led four Retrievers in double figures with 15 points and a team-best six rebounds.
  • Kiara Bell (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Laycee Drake (Hancock, N.Y.) each poured in 12 points, while Ashia McCalla (Greenbelt, Md.) added 10.
  • Bell was 6-7 from the field and added two blocks and a pair of steals in only 21 minutes as foul trouble limited her minutes. 
Scouting Bryant:
  • Dana Kiefer scored a career-high 14 points while hitting three triples in the Bryant University women's basketball team's 68-67 overtime loss against Vermont at the Chace.
  • Nicole Gallagher posted 14 points on 5-9 shooting, and Kemari Reynolds had a career-high 11 points.
  • The Bulldogs (5-10, 0-3 AE) were up four with 28 seconds remaining. UVM would then go on a 5-1 run to send the game into overtime.
  • Bryant shot 45.6% from the field, 37.5% from deep, and 64.3% from the free-throw line.
  • Kiefer has set a career-high in points in back-to-back contests.
  • Gallagher now has three consecutive double-digit efforts.
  • The Bulldogs have lost by one point in back-to-back games.
