Mia Bilusic (Zagreb, Croatia) was nearly perfect, finishing with 23 kills on .500 hitting with only one error and added 13 digs to lead the UMBC Volleyball team to four set victory over visiting American (25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 25-14) on Wednesday night.
The Retrievers hit .319 for the match as they ended a 12-match losing streak to American, picking up their first victory over the Eagles since 1996.
Serin Maden (Ankara, Turkey) had a career-high 54 assists in only four sets for UMBC (7-5).
Mila Ilieva (Vidin, Bulgaria) added 10 kills on .316 hitting with five blocks, while
Kamani Conteh (New Castle, Del.) added 15 kills and 10 digs.
Aysia Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) had a match-high 17 digs, while
Weronika Wrzesinska (Frednowy, Poland) had five kills on .500 hitting and added 12 digs.
Freshman
Laila Wooldridge (Coral Springs, Fla.) picked up her first career block in the contest.
