Men's Soccer Takes Care of Business on Both Ends, Blanks St. Peter's, 3-0

Quantrell Jones records his 13th career shutout, tying him for sixth place all-time at UMBC.

BALTIMORE – UMBC men's soccer got the job done on both ends of the field and blanked St. Peter's, 3-0, before 1,064 fans at Retriever Soccer Park.

Juniors Alek Wroblewski and Hans Nesheim and senior Ryan Becher were the goal-scorers, while senior goalkeeper Quantrell Jones earned his 13th career shutout.

All three Retriever goal were scored off corner kicks.

The Retrievers snapped a brief two-game winless streak and improved to 5-1-1, while St. Peter's dropped to 1-4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the 12', Jago Lott's corner from the right side was headed by Wroblewski from 12 yards out on the right side of the box. The long re-direction crossed the goal line just inside the far left post.
  • Jones made three tremendous stops as St. Peter's tried to knot the score in the latter stages of the first half. He denied two attempts from close range in the 41' and 43'.
  • In the 54', Lott took another corner from the right side and Wroblewski again got a head on it, sending it wide of the left post. Junior midfielder William Forby kept the ball in play, finding Nesheim and the defender converted his first career goal through traffic and inside the left post.
  • In the 70', Lott played a short corner to Forby, who tapped it back. Lott then served a ball into the box, where Becher flicked it past the leaping Peacock goalkeeper.
