LOS ANGELES – Mia Bilusic (Zagreb, Croatia) tallied 15 kills while Serin Maden (Ankara, Turkey) added a match-high 35 assists as the UMBC Volleyball team concluded its opening weekend with a three set loss to defending Patriot League champion Colgate (25-19, 28-26, 25-20)

Bilusic was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Both teams finished the weekend at 1-2.

UMBC, after playing a tough battle against No.24 USC just hours earlier, also got contributions from Kamani Conteh (New Castle, Del.), Emily Ferketic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Mila Ilieva (Vidin, Bulgaria) who finished with 11, four and four kills, respectively. Conteh also added 11 digs for her second double-double of the weekend.

On the defensive side, libero Aysia Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) picked up a match-best 18 digs.

The Retrievers return home and make the short trek to American for a 7:30 p.m. match on Friday
