Retrievers Win Road Game Against Eastern Shore

Salisbury, Md. – Retrievers bounce back from weekend series to pick up a road win against Eastern Shore.

Starting pitcher Joe Pucek pitched 27 at bats into the 8th inning, earning 12 strikeouts and allowing 4.

Conner Kelly and Matt Ryan lead the team in RBIs at 2 each off of home runs. Michael Cilio went 2 for 4 on the day, with a solo home run of his own in the 4th inning. Luke Trythall and Christian Easley also went 2 for 4 at the plate.

How It Happened
 
  • Matt Ryan got the first RBI of the night, taking the walk in the top of the first inning with bases loaded to score Drew Roberts.
 
  • The Hawks offense responded in the second inning, putting the Hawks up 4-1 over the Retrievers.
 
  • In the third inning, Matt Ryan hit a solo home run to cut the Hawks to a  4-2 lead. Conner Kelly hit a home run in the next inning, scoring himself and Michael Cilio to tie the game at 4. The tie would last long as Michael Cilo took 5-4 lead for the Retrievers with a solo home run in the sixth inning. 
 
  • In the seventh inning, Luke Trythall was able to find his way home on a passed ball to extend the retriever lead to 6-4. In the 8th inning, Michael Cilio was able to find his way home off an error and Kelly scored off Ian Diaz walking with bases loaded to make it 8-4.

The Retrievers will be back at home playing a weekend series against NJIT. The series opener will be at 6pm, Friday evening at Alumni Field.
