Women's Track and Field Stays Local for Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday

UMBC track and field returns to action this Saturday when they travel to the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.

BALTIMORE– UMBC track and field returns to action this Saturday when they travel to the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational. The meet is one of the last two meets before the America East Championships in May.

Last Time Out (Bucknell Outdoor Classic):

Emmy Beyer finished the race in a time of 38:18.36, good for third place.
Ariella Garcia also had a strong race on the track, finishing the 1,500m unseeded race in a time of 4:43.47, good for fifth place.
In the field, Ava Roberts and Sierra Butler finished in 16th and 18th place respectively in the discus. Roberts had her best throw of 39.85m, while Butler had a toss of 38.64m.
Jasmine Holland took 22nd in the long jump with her best jump coming at 5.37m.
Holland finished second in the triple jump, finishing with her best jump at 12.07m.
Siiva Tafiti and Autumn Winston also had a strong finish in the field in the shot put (12th, 13.13m) and the high jump (10th, 1.51m).
Eleni Zotou took 15th in the hammer throw to round out the field competitors with a toss of 47.46m.
Savannah Wright took home sixth in the 200m in a time of 25.18 to pace to runners.
Arie McIlwain and Collese Daley finished seventh in the 100m hurdles (14.62) and eighth in the 200m (25.31) respectively.
Ariella Garcia continued her strong spring with a ninth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 57.50.
The 4x100m relay team rounded out the field taking fourth. Wright, Petronilla Onyebadi, Daley, and Blaire Ridgely finished at a time of 47.38.

Last Year at Hopkins/Loyola:

Siiva Tafiti and Jasmine Holland led the way with first-place finishes in the field.
Tafiti won the shot put with a toss of 14.31m while also taking fifth in the discus at 34.62m. Holland won the triple jump with her best jump coming at 11.57m.
Margo Henley earned a second-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:20.44. Emmy Beyer led a trio of top ten finishers in the 5,000m with a third-place finish in a time of 17:46.83.
Madison Armonda and Leanne Sneeringer were just behind her in eighth and ninth with times of 18:20.34 and 18:50.47.
Bridgett Redding placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:19.34 with Ryanna Kimbembe (6th, 2:21.61) and Morgan Casey (9th, 2:22.66) also placing in the event.
Chelsea Umezurike earned a pair of top-ten finishes taking fourth in the 100m hurdles (15.86) and sixth in the 400m (1:00.89).
Other top Retriever finishers included Petronilla Onyebadi in the 100m (5th, 12.79), Samantha Kameka in the 400m (4th, 1:00.03), Catherine Jordan in the 400m hurdles (8th, 1:09.75), Collese Daley in the 200m (5th, 26.10), and the 4x100m relay team (3rd, 48.80).
