#RETRIEVHERS Â
UMBC Athletics is kicking off a year-long initiative to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX. As part of the #RetrievHERS celebration, the men's and women's lacrosse programs and the baseball and softball programs will recognize an impactful woman on their programs.
The men's lacrosse program is honoring Amy Fedorchak, the mother of junior defenseman
Ricky Fedorchak. Amy was a two-sport student-athlete at Northwestern University, walking onto the softball team and also competing in field hockey. Among her many field hockey honors, she was a 1985 First Team All-American, the 1985 Big Ten Player of the Year and a 1985 Member of the US National Under-21 Team. As part of the Wildcats softball and field hockey teams, she won six Big Ten titles and in 2008, the St. Louis native was inducted into Northwestern Athletics Hall of Fame.
Amy graduated in 1986 with a Materials Science and Engineering degree and worked for NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for 33 years until her retirement in December 2020.
