Women's Basketball to Host Hartford on Senior Night

The UMBC Women's Basketball team will play at The Peake for the final time this season when it hosts Hartford at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+.

There will be a ceremony at 6:40 p.m. for the five Retrievers who will be competing at home for the final time: Jasmine Braswell, Onome-Juliet Esadah, Danae Marquez, Jatarrikah Settle and Janee'a Summers.

Scouting the Retrievers:
  • UMBC women's basketball battled throughout the game against the Catamounts, but could not complete the comeback in a 59-47 loss on Saturday.
  • The Retrievers trimmed the deficit to as little as five in the second half, but Vermont would hit free throws late to pull away.
  • Esadah led the Retrievers on the glass with 11 rebounds.
  • Keelah Dixon (Boston, Mass.) and Settle each led the Retrievers with nine points.
Scouting the Hawks
  • Sophomore Paula Maurina scored a team-high 16 points while senior Lya Farcy put up a career-high 14 points as the Hartford women's basketball team fell, 63-46, to Binghamton on Monday night.
  • Maurina finished with a 7-of-13 effort from the floor
  • Abby Streeter grabbed a career-best nine rebounds
All-Time Series
  • Hartford leads the all-time series, 28-11
  • Esadah calmly buried a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to push the lead to three as the UMBC Women's Basketball team won its second-straight, 51-48, over host Hartford on 2/9.
  • Loan-Anh Johnson (Wichita, Kan.) stole the ball on Hartford's final possession to seal the win.
  • Janee's Summers (Bound Brook, N.J.) paced the Retriever offense with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Esadah finished with 12 and eight off the bench.
  • The Hawks had won five in a row before UMBC swept the series in 19-20 and won the first matchup this season
  • UMBC is 6-12 all-time at home against Hartford.
