BOSTON - The America East Men's Soccer Coaches selected UMBC junior forward
Taylor Calheira (Towson, Md./Concordia Prep) as the league's 2022 Striker of the Year.
Calheira becomes UMBC's first major award winner since Malcolm Harris earned Defender of the Year honors in 2015. He is the first Retriever Striker of the Year since Kay Banjo received that honor in 2014.
Calheira, who was named to the America East First Team last week, netted a career-best 11 goals and added seven assists in 17 games this season. Nationally, as of Nov. 7, he currently ranks

- 8th in points per game (1.75)
- 9th (tied) in total goals
- 16th in goals per game (0.65)
The local product now has 22 goals and 56 points in 45 career games played. His 29 points scored is the fifth-most (tied) recorded by a junior in school history.
