Ryan Becher Makes it Four Straight America East Top Offensive Honor

The senior is the lone player in the nation to average better than two points per match

BOSTON – For the fourth consecutive week, the America East Conference has tabbed UMBC senior midfielder Ryan Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.) as its Offensive Player of the Week.

Becher scored two goals and added an assist in UMBC's 4-1 win over NJIT on Senior Night at Retriever Soccer Park on Friday. He tallied the opening goal just 59 seconds into the contest and his brilliant goal in the 83' was the No. 4 play on Sports Center.

Becher becomes the first Retriever to post double figures in goals (13) and assists (10) since a pair of Retrievers (Andrew Bulls, Levi Houapeu) did it in 2009. His 36 points is the most since Houapeu's 43 (15-13-43) in 2009.

He has moved into a tie for eighth place with 20 UMBC career assists, becoming the tenth Retriever to reach the 20-assist plateau.

He currently leads the nation in points per game (2.25) and total points (36) and is the nation's lone player to average more than two points per game. Becher is fourth in goals per game (0.81) and seventh in assists per game (0.62).

The Retrievers (10-4-2, 4-2-0 America East) complete the 2022 regular season at Binghamton on Tuesday. The America East Championships begin on Saturday, Nov. 5.
