Volleyball Travels to New Hampshire for Sunday Matinee

UMBC (11-5, 4-0 America East Conference) will face a tough task as the Retrievers head to Durham, N.H. to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats (14-8, 2-3 AE) on Sunday, Oct. 23. The match will get underway at 1:00 p.m. at Lundholm Gymnasium and will be broadcast on AmericaEast.TV
 
RETRIEVER NOTEBOOK
·       UMBC won all six sets in taking a pair of matches last weekend. The Retrievers won at NJIT on Friday and returned home to defeat UAlbany on Sunday.  
·       The Retrievers have won six straight and ten of their last 12 matches.
·       UMBC has now won 19 consecutive regular season America East matches, 22 in a row versus league foes (including league tournament play) and 14 straight at Chesapeake Arena.
·       The Retrievers are ranked 70th in of 344 NCAA Division I volleyball programs in the RPI ratings (matches played as of Oct. 16).
·       For the second consecutive week, and third time this season, sophomore outside hitter Mia Bilusic (Zagreb, Croatia) was named America East Player of the Week. Junior libero Aysia Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) was also honored as the America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, it was also her third time receiving the recognition this season. 
·       Bilusic averaged 4.33 kills per set while hitting .288 with 20 digs. She had 18 kills and hit .436 with 11 digs and three blocks in a sweep of NJIT, and then recorded eight kills, nine digs and three blocks in a sweep of UAlbany. 
·       Miller averaged 3.83 digs per set in a pair of conference sweeps while helping hold opponents to .117 hitting. She recorded 12 digs and four assists in a sweep of NJIT, and then posted 11 digs and four assists in the sweep of UAlbany.
·       2022 America East honorees

·       UMBC currently leads America East in assists (12.52), kills (13.50) and service aces (tied-1.90) per set.
·       The Retrievers are 3-1 in five-setters in 2022.
·       Bilusic (4.40) and Conteh (4.23) are 1-2 in the league in kills per set. Bilusic is also tops in services aces (0.56), while Maden is far and away the leader in assists at 10.63 assists per set through 59 sets in 2022. Miller leads the AE in digs per set (4.29) – the libero is playing her third different position (setter, outside hitter, libero) in three seasons on Hilltop Circle.
·       Through matches of Oct. 19th, Bilusic was 14thin the nation in services aces per set, while Maden was 26th in assists per set. The Retrievers are 14th in the nation in service aces per set (1.90) and 45th in assists per set (12.52).

A GLANCE AT THE WILDCATS   
·       UNH is 7-1 at Lundholm this season, with the lone setback occurring on Oct. 2 versus Binghamton. The Wildcats nearly knocked off the Bearcats in New York last Sunday, falling in five sets.
·       Junior Hannah Serbousek leads a balanced UNH attack with 2.56 kills per set.
·       Kara Oxenknecht has excelled in her freshman season and is fourth in the conference in blocks (1.04) per set and third in hitting percentage (.309). Junior Kelly Kaufmann is second in hitting percentage at .323.

UMBC has a pair of home matches next weekend, as they host NJIT (Friday, Oct. 28, 5:00 p.m.) and Binghatmon (Sunday, Oct. 30, 1 p.m.).
