Women's Basketball Falls at Vermont

Burlington, VT. – Onome-Juliet Esadah (Warri, Delta State, Nigeria) scored nine points and collected four rebounds, but the UMBC Women's Basketball team fell to host Vermont, 69-36, on Saturday afternoon

How it Happened
  • Vermont (8-7, 2-2 AE) scored the first six points of the game before Loan-Anh Johnson (Wichita, Kan.) made a layup to get UMBC (1-11, 0-2 AE) on the board, but UVM would take a 17-5 lead into the second quarter
  • Esadah would score seven of her points in the second quarter, and her three-point play with 1:33 left before the half cut the deficit to 26-16. 
  • The Catamounts would respond with the final four points of the half to lead 30-16 at the break. 
  • The hosts went on a big run to start the third quarter and took a 49-26 lead into the fourth quarter
  • Junior Haile McDonald (Winchester, Va.) scored her first points as a Retriever in the fourth quarter. She made both of her shots to finish with four points.
The Retrievers continue their three game road trip at UMass Lowell on Monday. Tip-off is slated for noon on ESPN+.
