Box Score BALTIMORE - In a shortened version of their season, the UMBC women's soccer team battled through every game they played. On Friday afternoon, the team fell, 1-0, in overtime to the Binghamton Bearcats in the season finale at Retriever Soccer Park.
Following the game, the team recognized its five graduating seniors: Jade Wilkins, Meredith Webber, Elysia Paolillo, Erin Stevenson, and Christina Corbi.
Binghamton moves to 5-1-0 on the year, with all of their contests of the season coming against America East opponents. UMBC ends the year with a 1-4-1 record and a 1-4-0 mark in conference play.
Wilkins started the game with back-to-back saves early in the first half, before making two more big saves halfway through the 45 minute period.
Morgan Rees (Ardmore, Pa.) sent the only shots on goal for UMBC during the first half, but Binghamton's Haylee Poltorak made the saves.
Rees had the best chance for the Retrievers in the second half when she sent a shot to the goal in the 58th minute but it bounced right off the crossbar.
Corbi and Juliana Rafaniello (Old Bridge, N.J.) had two more looks for UMBC late in the game, but Poltorak was able to get her hands on both shots.
In the fourth overtime game for the Retrievers this season, it was the Bearcats who were able to score the golden goal in the 94th minute for the 1-0 victory.
