The UMBC Women's Basketball team closes the home portion of its non-conference schedule when it hosts Lafayette on Thursday 5:30 p.m. at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
Scouting the Retrievers:
- UMBC (1-6) dropped its sixth straight contest on Sunday when St.Francis Brooklyn beat them, 63-51 at The 'PeakeÂ
- This is the longest losing streak for the program since a 13 game slide in 2017-18.
- The Retrievers continued their strong defensive play on Sunday, holding the visiting Terriers to just 37.3% shooting, including only 28% from threeÂ
- Keelah Dixon (Boston, Mass.) led the offense with 11 points, while Alexia Nelson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a season-high 10 points.
- Sunday was the first time all season that UMBCÂ used a starting lineup for a second time (Settle, Nelson, Esadah, Marquez, Dixon)
- The Retrievers used a different starting lineup for each of the first six games of the season, with Esadah being the only player to start every game. Â
Scouting the Leopards:
- Lafayette enters play on a two-game winning streak after defeating UMBC's America East rival NJIT, 71-64, on Saturday.Â
- Local product Jessica Booth (Columbia, Md.) will make her homecoming as the leading scorer for the Leopards, coming off scoring a career-high 20 points against NJIT
- Booth is averaging 13.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and leads the team in assists (32) and steals (13)Â
- Senioe Naomi Ganpo is averaging a team-best 8.6 rebounds, with 7.3 points per game and has a team-high 18 blocks.Â
