Teter Becomes First Retriever to be Named AVCA All-Region

Lexington, Ky – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) named UMBC graduate student Loren Teter (Redondo Beach, Calif.) to its 2021 East Coast All-Region team.

After transferring from San Diego State in the fall of 2020, Teter led UMBC to a pair of America East Conference championships in the span of seven months.The libero is the first Retriever to receive an AVCA All-Region team honor. Head Coach Cristina Robertson earned AVCA East Coast Region Coach of the Year honors in the spring of 2021.

The America East Conference coaches selected Teter as the 2021 America East Defensive Specialist of the Year. She also earned America East First Team and All-Academic Team honors for her play in leading UMBC to a 12-0 conference mark.
Teter just completed her sterling career with 1,467 career digs, 773 of them coming in just 46 matches as a Retriever.

Her 525 digs this fall represented the third-most in a single season in program history and the most since rally scoring started in 2001.
