The UMBC Women's Basketball wraps-up its five-game road swing at American on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Bender Arena, with the game being broadcast on ESPN+.
Scouting the Retrievers:
- UMBC (1-4) enters the final game of its five-game road trip on a four game slide. Wake Forest shot 57.1% from the field and made 11 3-pointers en route to a 94-48 win on Saturday afternoon.Â
- Jatarrikah Settle (Frederick, Md.) paced the Retriever offense with 11 points.Â
- Keelah Dixon (Boston, Mass.) had a career high five steals and added eight points
- Loan-Anh Johnson (Wichita, Kan.) filled the stat sheet with nine points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal
- UMBC has used a different starting lineup in every game this season, with Janee'a Summers (Bound Brook, N.J.) and Onome-Juliet Esadah (Warri, Delta State, Nigeria) being the only two players to start every game. Â
Scouting the Eagles
- American is 3-2 after beating George Mason, 69-61, at home on Tuesday night.
- Senior Jade Edwards was impressive in the victory, finishing with 25 points, nine rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block.
- Edwards leads the Eagles in scoring (17.8 ppg), fg (29), minutes (37.0 mpg) and steals (14). She's second in rebounds (5.2 rpg), assists (17) and shooting percentage (50..9%).Â
- Edwards is shooting 60.9% from two (28-46) on the season.Â
- Senior Taylor Brown had 13 points on Tuesday and is averaging 8.2 points and a team-best 5.6 rebounds per game.
All-Time Series
American leads the all-time series 13-6, but the teams haven't met since the Eagles defeated the Retrievers in D.C., 64-42, in 2018. AU has won seven of the last eight matchups, including the last three. UMBC's only win in that time period was a 47-46 victory in Baltimore in 2015. The Retrievers last won at American in 2005, when they defeated the hosts, 68-56.
