Women's Basketball Visits Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday Night

The UMBC Volleyball team looks to get back in the win column when it travels to local rival Loyola on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

UMBC (1-1) is coming off a 61-52 loss at Colgate last Saturday. Danae Marquez (Fresno, Calif.) came off the bench and led the Retrievers with 11 points on 4-7 shooting (3-4 from three) in her first appearance with the Black & Gold. Keelah Dixon (Boston, Mass.) finished with 10 points for the second straight game, while Alexia Nelson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had six points, six assists, six rebounds and three steals.

Scouting Loyola Maryland

Loyola is 1-2 after beating Fairleigh Dickinson, 68-59, in overtime on Sunday at home. It was the first victory under new head coach Danielle O'Banion.

Freshman Laura Salmerón had 15 points in the win, while senior guard Taleah Dixon has scored at least 11 points in all three games and is averaging 12.7 per game. Junior guard Bri Rozzi is averaging 10.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for the Greyhounds

Loyola leads the all-time series 24-16, but the teams haven't met since visiting Loyola defeated the Retrievers, 70-65, in 2016.
