Volleyball Clinches Playoff Spot in Four Set Win at Binghamton

The UMBC Volleyball team ran its win streak to nine and clinched a spot in the four-team America East playoff with a four set victory over host Binghamton

Vestal, N.Y -- The UMBC Volleyball team ran its win streak to nine and clinched a spot in the four-team America East playoff with a four set victory over host Binghamton (25-14, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon.

UMBC (14-10, 9-0 AE) clinched at least a share of its second-straight America East Regular Season Title. 

The Retrievers held Binghamton (6-13, 2-5 AE) to just .07 hitting in the victory. 

Grace Rigsbee (Suwanee, Ga.) led the way for UMBC, finishing with 11 kills (.292 hitting) and four blocks. Mia Bilusic (Zagreb, Croatia) tallied 10 kills, 13 digs and a block, while Aysia Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) had nine kills and 17 digs. 

Junior setter Andjelija Draskovic (Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia) dished out 38 assists, seven digs, four aces and two kills. Graduate student libero Loren Teter (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished with a match-high 19 digs.

Beste Ayhan (Istanbul, Turkey) and Mila Ilieva (Vidin, Bulgaria) each had five kills, while Kayla Tomas (Silver Spring, Md.) added six digs. Kamni Conteh (New Castle, Del.) came off the bench in the second set and added two kills as welll.

UMBC returns home to face Hartford this Friday at 7 p.m.
