Women's Soccer Drops a 4-0 Decision to Host UAlbany

UMBC women's soccer ran into a tough opponent on their Senior Day and host UAlbany defeated the Retrievers, 4-0, at Tom and Mary Casey Stadium.

ALBANY – UMBC women's soccer ran into a tough opponent on their Senior Day and host UAlbany defeated the Retrievers, 4-0, at Tom and Mary Casey Stadium.

UMBC dropped to 5-7-3 overall and 1-5-1 in America East play, while UAlbany improved to 4-6-4, 3-2-2 AE.

The game was UMBC's final road regular season contest of the year.

The Great Danes took advantage of UMBC defensive zone miscues to score twice in the first half, netting goals in the 5' and 35'.

In between the Dane goals, the Retrievers buzzed around the box, but a pair of shots from close range by Grace Harvey (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) and Meghan McKye (Toronto, Ont.) were stopped by the UAlbany goalkeeper.

UAlbany added scores in the 57' and 79' and forced a number of Retrievers shots to come from distance.

Freshman goalkeeper Abbey Cowles (Colts Neck, N.J.) was credited with 11 saves, two shy of her season high.

Graduate student midfielder Erin Stevenson (Sellersville, Pa.) maintained her relentless style of play, putting four of her six shots on target.

UMBC plays its final two regular season contests at home, starting with a Sunday, Oct. 24 match versus Vermont. The game gets underway at 1:00 p.m. on the Bermuda grass of Retriever Soccer Park.
