Albany, N.Y.-- UMBC men's basketball continued their hot streak, completing the sweep of UAlbany, 65-60 on Sunday afternoon. Senior Brandon Horvath (West River, Md./Southern) continued his torrid start to the season with a career-high 27 points on 10-14 shooting with nine rebounds.

Horvath was an efficient 10-14 from the floor for a career-high 27 point adding nine rebounds. Daniel Akin (London, England) added 10 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double with three blocks.
Kellon Taylor and Antonio Rizzuto each had 11 points to lead the Great Danes.
UMBC and UAlbany battled early with each team getting out to a hot start from the floor. The Great Danes would lead by as many as six before Darnell Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Indian Land (SC)/New Mexico JC) drilled a three to cut the deficit to just two midway through the half.
However, it was the Great Danes who had the upper hand late in the half, going on a 7-0 spurt to take a five-point lead into the break.
The Retrievers responded as they have most of the year with an 8-2 run in the second half to take the lead back thanks to a pair of three's from Rogers and Horvath. After UAlbany retook the lead, the Retrievers had the final punch using a 15-3 run over a six-minute stretch to take the lead for good.
UAlbany would try to mount a late comeback, but the Retrievers held on for a 65-60 win on Sunday. The Retrievers shot 43 percent from the floor, holding the Great Danes to 32 percent. UMBC once again capitalized on the fast break, scoring 12 points in transition, assisting on 10 of their 20 field goals.
UMBC returns to Baltimore next Sunday and Monday to take on Binghamton at the UMBC Event Center. Tip-off for both games is at 1 p.m. on Watch ESPN.
