Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC track and field returns to action after a month-long hiatus at the Great Dane Classic in Staten Island on Saturday. The Retrievers have not competed since they opened the season on December 7 at the TCNJ Indoor Open. At the meet, senior Trenson Terry broke the school record in the long jump with a jump that at the time was top ten nationally and is currently 12th best this year. Jasmine Holland set a new school record in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a jump of 11.68m breaking Jean Udo's mark of 11.64m set in 2016.

Last Time Out (TNCJ Indoor Open):
-Terry finished with a jump of 7.33m to set the new school mark. He also took seventh in the 60m hurdle finals earlier in the night with a time of 8.73. Andrew Haberman and Maurice Johnson earned a pair of first and second-place finishes respectively. Haberman earned gold in the shot put and weight throw with tosses of 14.07m and 15.83m. Johnson turned in throws of 13.70m and 15.22m in both events. Divinus Muteba rounded out the field athletes with a second-place finish in the high jump at 2.00m.
-Taheer Pierce and Brian Nelson led the sprinters on Saturday with a two-four finish in the 300m dash. Pierce finished in 35.28 with Nelson going 35.38. Darius Adams and Shamar Barnes qualified for the 60m dash finals, with Adams taking seventh (7.23) and Barnes finishing eighth (7.28). Michael Arnold took fourth in the 400m (52.22) and Parker Tewell finished fourth in the 600m (1:24.16) to round out the sprinters.
-Jasmine Holland set a new school record in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a jump of 11.68m breaking Jean Udo's mark of 11.64m set in 2016. Holland also finished third in the long jump at 5.48m. Petronilla Onyebadi finished the long jump in fourth place with a jump of 5.38m. Deja Ravenell also turned in a top ten finish in the event in sixth with a jump of 5.17m. Eleni Zotou rounded out the field athletes with a second-place finish in the weight throw at 16.35m.
-Tori Johnson and Melissa Kameka finished two-three in the 400m with times of 59.00 and 59.82 respectively. Pharist O'Neal and Collese Daley turned in third-place finishes in the 60m and 300m with times of 7.88 and 40.38.
Last Year at the Great Dane Classic:
-Alexios Prodanas set the school record in the weight throw. He broke the seven year record set back in 2012 by Cameron McDearmon. Prodanas finished with his best toss at 18.97m. That throw beat the previous school record which was held by McDearmon at 18.93m set back in the winter of 2012. Trenson Terry and Divinus Muteba also turned in top-five finishes in the field with Terry going third in the long jump (6.92m) and Muteba taking fourth in the high jump (1.99m/6'6.25").
-A slew of Retrievers finished in near the top on the track. Matt Kingeter and Hugh O'Connor finished three-four in the 5,000m run with times of 15:19.63 and 15:30.00 respectively. Brian Cave was not too far behind in eighth in 15:35.19. Nathan Nadal finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:23.06.
-On the women's side, Tori Johnson earned a seventh-place finish in the 500m dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:17.94. Ariella Garcia was just behind her in 13th place in a time of 1:19.41.
-Kaya Knake had the best finish on the women's side with a sixth-place finish in the 1,000m run, crossing the tape in 2:59.59. In the field, Kelechi Nwanaga finished fourth in the shot put with her best throw coming at 13.00m.
