BALTIMORE - The UMBC women's soccer team fell 2-0 in its America East opener to New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon.

STRAIGHT FACTS

The Wildcats were first on the board in the 11th minute after Ally Reynolds headed in a Whitney Wiley corner kick directly in front of the box.

Juliana Rafaniello (Old Bridge, N.J.) gave the Retrievers the best chance in the first half, sending a shot towards the net in the 27th minute that UNH's keeper was able to save.

Kaylan Williams put the Wildcats up 2-0 in the 29th minute after she put a shot into the left corner of the net.

Danielle Fuentes (Rockville, Md./Magruder) looked to put UMBC on the board in the second half as she sent a shot on target in the 53rd minute.

Alyssa Minnick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) kept the Wildcats from adding to their total in the 71st minute.

FOR THE RECORD

New Hampshire moves to 5-4-0 overall on the season and 1-0-0 in conference play. UMBC falls to 1-6-2 on the year and 0-1-0 in AE play.

BY THE NUMBERS

The Wildcats outshot the Retrievers, 12-6, and held a 5-2 advantage on goal.

UNH also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Fuentes and Christina Corbi (Medford, N.J.) led the Retrievers with two shots each.

MINDING THE NET

Cat Sheppard picked up her third clean sheet of the season for the Wildcats, making two saves. Jade Wilkins and Minnick split time in goal for the Retrievers, making a combined three saves.

The Retrievers close out a three-game home stretch on Sunday, September 29 when they host the UAlbany Great Danes at 2 p.m.
