Colorado Native Putnicki Has Career Day in Return Home

Boulder, Colo. -- Performing in her home state, freshman Riley Putnicki (Monument, Colo.) had the best match of her young career, however Campbell (6-4) edged by the UMBC Volleyball team in three sets (25-16, 26-24, 25-23) to open the Colorado Classic. 

Putnicki entered the match with the Retrievers (3-7) hitting nearly -.450, and proceeded to rack up a career high 31 assists as the team hit .373 on her assist attempts. Defending America East Defensive Specialist of the Week Brooke Hayden (Mt.Airy, Md.) tallied a match-best 18 digs, 

Senior Franchesca Reed (Aurora, Colo.) picked up eight kills on .417 hitting in front of friends and family in her first college match back in Colorado. Defending America East Player of the Week Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) had 12 kills and six digs. 

UMBC faces the host (RV) Colorado tomorrow at 12 p.m. MT. The match will be broadcast on Pac-12 Network Plus, with fans being able to watch for free on the Pac-12 Network Plus Facebook page.
