Box Score Christina Corbi (Medford, N.J.) scored the lone goal for the Retrievers as the UMBC women's soccer team fell 4-1 to the George Washington Colonials on Thursday night.
STRAIGHT FACTS
The Retrievers took an early 1-0 lead after Danielle Fuentes (Rockville, Md./Magruder) controlled the ball and passed it to the center of the box; Corbi met the ball at the right time, sending it into the left corner of the net.
The Colonials tied the game up in the 23rd minute after Maria Pareja sent a free kick into the box, where Anyssa Ibrahim was able to put it away.
In the 41st minute, Pareja scored a goal of her own to put GW up, 2-1.
With 59 seconds on the clock, Madison Coyne headed in George Washington's third goal of the night after Sammy Nayman sent a corner kick into the box.
The second half was big for Jade Wilkins (Stoney Beach, Md./The Catholic High School) as she made four saves to keep the Colonials from scoring again.
Amberlina Argubie (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) gave the Retrievers their best chance in the second half after she put a shot on target in the 74th minute, but GW's keeper made the save
GW would add a fourth goal in the 77th minute when Isabelle Eskay scored off a Tori Minda corner kick.

George Washington moves to 4-1-2 on the season. UMBC falls to 1-5-2 on the year.
