Softball Rally Falls Short Against Stony Brook

Box Score

Baltimore, Md. -- Logan Hawker (Mechanicsville, Md.) went 2-for-3 with a home run, but it wasn't enough as visiting Stony Brook used three homers of its own to defeat the UMBC Softball team, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon.

Julia Keffler (Huntingtown, Md.) and Anna Lonchar (Bristow, Va.) also drove in runs for UMBC (23-19, 4-8 AE), while Imani Dawson (Hanover, Md.) was the only other Retriever with multiple hits, picking up two singles.

Courtney Coppersmith (York, Md.) struck out 12 and walked just one, but Stony Brook (23-15, 7-5 AE) showed why it was tops in the America East in home runs entering the day. Eight of the nine UMBC starters picked up a hit in the game.

UMBC travels to second place Albany this weekend for a three game set starting with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
