Baltimore -- Senior libero Brooke Hayden (Mt.Airy, Md.) had a career-best 28 digs, but the UMBC Volleyball team dropped its third consecutive five-set match (25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13) on Sunday to visiting New Hampshire (11-5, 1-1 AE) in a match played without electricity on Sunday.

After a campus-wide power outage occurred just 20 minutes before the match was scheduled to begin, the teams agreed to play with no public address, music or electronic scoreboard and under the emergency lighting. Power was restored midway through the fifth set.  

Junior outside hitter Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) tied a career-high with 22 kills for UMBC (3-12, 0-2 AE), while freshman Niki Khoshatefeh (Temecula, Calif.) notched 12 kills. Sophomore Paige Krenik (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) came off the bench and contributed seven kills and a season-best 14 digs. Hayden's 28 digs were the eigth most in a single match in Retrievr program history. 

Freshman setter Riley Putnicki tied her career-mark with 48 assists, while setting a new high with 16 digs. Khoshatefeh and classmate Emily Ferketic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each had four blocks, while senior Franchesca Reed (Aurora, Colo.) had six kills and three blocks. 

UMBC heads up north next weekend, for matches at Stony Brook and Hartford. The Retrievers will be in Connecticut to face the Hawks on Friday night at 7 p.m., before closing the weekend with a 1 p.m. Sunday contest at the two-time defending conference champion Seawolves on Long Island.
