New Hampshire Edges Volleyball on Friday Night

Baltimore, Md. --  Redshirt senior Paola Rojas (San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico) had 13 kills on .417 hitting and five blocks, but the UMBC Volleyball team was edged by New Hampshire by the slimmest possible margin (25-23, 28-26, 25-23) on Friday night at the UMBC Event Center.

Senior libero Kristin Watson (Bowie, Md.) had a match-best 23 digs for UMBC (4-13, 0-3), while Paige Krenik (Foothill Ranch, Calif.), Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) and Brooke Hayden (Mt.Airy, Md.) all had 13 digs. Krenik and Freeman each had double-doubles with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

Krytsia Negrón (San Juan Puerto Rico) pitched in 29 assists and Taylor Dunn (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 12 assists of her own. Junior middle blocker Franchesca Reed (Aurora, Colo.) joined Hayden with four kills.

Gabri Olhava had a match-high 16 kills for New Hampshire (7-11, 3-1).
