Krenik's 16 Kills Not Enough as Volleyball Falls to UAlbany in Four Sets

Baltimore, Md. -- Freshman outside hitter Paige Krenik (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) tied for a match-best with 16 kills, but the UMBC Volleyball team fell to visiting UAlbany in four sets (25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 25-15) on Friday night at the UMBC Event Center.

UMBC (6-16, 2-6) was paced defensively by senior libero Kristin Watson (Bowie, Md.) who finished with a game-high 26 digs, while classmate (San Juan, Puerto Rico) Krytsia Negrón had a game-high 48 assists of her own. Paola Rojas (San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico) had 13 kills on .355 hitting and Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) picked up her 14th double-double of the year, with 12 kills and 15 digs. 

Akuabata Okenwa tied Krenik with 16 kills (.351) to lead UAlbany (12-8, 6-1).

The Retrievers hit the road for the final time in this season when they travel to UMass Lowell and New Hampshire next weekend.
