West Hartford, Conn. --  Paige Krenik (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) had the best match of her career, with 18 kills and 22 digs, while Paola Rojas (San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico) had 20 kills on an amazing .400 hitting percentage as the UMBC Volleyball team rallied from two sets down to stun host Hartford (23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-12) on Friday night in Connecticut.

"What a big win for us on the road tonight. When you deal with so many injuries early on in the season, it's tough to bounce back and get everyone acclimated, however I feel like we are making strides in the right direction," said head coach Cristina Robertson. "I am proud of the way we competed tonight and handled adversity, especially coming back from two sets down. These young women were resilient and played with passion, but most importantly, they played together. I'm just so proud of them."

The 18 kills tied Krenik's career high, while the 22 digs reset her career high by five. Taylor Dunn (Virginia Beach, Va.) had a career-best 50 assists, and senior libero Kristin Watson (Bowie, Md.) had 18 digs for UMBC (5-14, 1-4). Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) finished with 15 kills and Becca Elrod (Cary, Ill.) made her season debut in the third set, finishing with two kills and a block to help spur the comeback.

Junior middle blocker Franchesca Reed (Aurora, Colo.) tallied eight kills and four blocks, while classmate Brooke Hayden (Mt.Airy, Md.) had three kills and nine digs.

The Retrievers head south to Long Island to face undefeated first place Stony Brook on Sunday at 1 p.m.
