A Slew of Retrievers Earn Spots in Tomorrow's Finals on Day One of America East Championships

Durham, N.H.—The Retriever women sit in seventh place after day one of the America East Championships, as the sprinters led the pack on the day. Several Retrievers will compete in the finals tomorrow morning.

Funmi Daramola and Amani Wallace led the sprinters, each earning a spot in a pair of finals. Daramola placed fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.88 and sixth in the 400m dash in a time of 58.03. Amani Wallace will compete in the finals of the 200m dash and 400m dash tomorrow taking eighth in the 200m (24.99) and second in the 400m 56.35. Kara Patrice finished eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.16.

Yinka Alabi earned a spot in the 100m and 400m hurdles with a fifth place (14.38) and eighth place (1:03.59). Tori Johnson will join Alabi in the 400m hurdles after taking fourth in a time of 1:03.30.

In distance, Sophia Cologer took fourth place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:42.93. Chelsea Vane finished the race in sixth place in a time of 11:12.00, while Katelyn Callaghan finished ninth in the 10,000m run in a time of 37:28.99.

Abigale Slonski was the lone Retriever in the field, taking second in the javelin with a throw of 41.41m (135'10").

New Hampshire is leading the pack after day one, followed by Binghamton, Vermont and defending champion Albany. UMass Lowell, Stony Brook, UMBC, Maine and Hartford round out the field.

Day two begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow at New Hampshire.
